BREATHE EASY FOUNDATION-NEWS UPDATE
On December 2014, the Foundation was granted its Charity Status to the delight of the Trustees. The website was also completed by the end of November and this will allow us to put a lot of information about the Foundation activities on line. Thanks to our graphic designer Graeme Forrest for his work and patience with our various queries. The website http://www.breatheeasyfoundation.co.uk has got “Just Donate” section which allows individuals to donate using their mobile or through “Paypal”.
ACTIVITIES:
Information Leaflet:
The leaflets about the Foundation are already in circulation both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. They have been given to our partners in Nigeria, to community groups especially in Liverpool and placed in churches and local News Paper shop. Information has also been sent to public individuals electronically.
Visit to Nigeria-January 2015
Two Trustees went to Nigeria to reinforce our partnership with two Hospitals (Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife and University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan). They visited two Primary Health Care Centres to initiate partnership with local health centres. The Trustees took along loads of ventolin inhalers, Nebulizers and Peak flow meters. They attended the Asthma Clinic at the OAU and the inhalers were given to patients. Information leaflets were left at the hospitals and the Health centres so that they can be given to the patients. The importance of the drugs being given to those patients in need of them was stressed at all settings. The issue of buying combined inhaler (both preventer and for treatment) was discussed since this could be bought in Nigeria.
Future work:
A national event in Nigeria is being planned for the World Asthma Day on the 6th of May and in UK we hope to use any form of media and activities to raise the issue in United Kingdom as well.
